Six Meters, Muhlenberg Improv Ensemble
Sound and Movement Improvisation
as Performance

Taught by Susan Creitz
July 27August 2, 2008

The body feeds the voice; the voice feeds the body. It's as easy as that! This workshop is for anyone with curiosity and courage . . .

  • who has tasted the excitement and magic of spontaneous dancing and singing,
  • who dances and is afraid to sing,
  • who sings and is afraid to dance, and
  • who wants time to taste the depths and delights of both!

We will work in spaces where you can be strong and mighty, funny and magnificent, awkward and serene using the basic elements of space, time, shape, motion, and texture, along with theater studies, Linklater work, soundscapes, contact, yoga, and massage. Choosing our strengths and the connections we have found throughout the week, we will create an informal performance, which will be open to the public.

SUSAN CREITZ studied and/or performed with major and new modern dance companies in NYC such as Alwin Nikolais, Murray Louis, Phyllis Lamhut, Kathleen Hinni, Norman Ader, and Diane Boardman. She has performed nationally and internationally, created commissioned works, and has taught throughout the U.S. and Ireland. She was guest artist at Duke University for three semesters (’79’81), on the Dance and Theater faculties at the University of Michigan (’83’86), and she is currently on the faculty of the Theatre and Dance Dept. at Muhlenberg College, PA (’88present).
