Bearnstow Welcomes New Staff in 2018

Peter Kyle was chosen by Ruth Grauert this fall as Associate Director and successor, a role for which she considers him the best qualified to carry on the aesthetic and the mission of Bearnstow.

Peter has been working in dance professionally since 1990. Evolving from a strong foundation in the Nikolais aesthetic, he is committed to working across disciplines to redefine and expand the scope of performance. He is Artistic Director of Peter Kyle Dance, longtime faculty member at Bard College and Marymount Manhattan College, and has been on Bearnstow’s faculty since 2009. He frequently conducts residencies, workshops and creative projects throughout the United States and internationally. Peter is a Fulbright Specialist grantee and holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Washington, and a BA in Dance and German Area Studies from Kenyon College.

Molly Hess began serving as General Manager in summer 2017 and will continue in that role in the coming season. She has directed Bearnstow’s Day Camp since 2011 and every summer looks forward to new adventures at camp. Molly is a Cambridge, Massachusetts based dance artist, educator, and administrator who values process, collaboration, curiosity, and transparency in all her work.

When she is not leading Day Camp, she teaches with Cambridge Performance Project, and Dance Place in Arlington, MA. She also is the Program and Education Director of Green Street Studios. Molly has a B.A. in dance from St. Olaf College and a certificate in Brain-Compatible Dance education from Creative Dance Center. An independent choreographer and performer, Molly is also a member of Back Pocket Dancers, an intergenerational dance company.
